“Oh, I wish Usdan had existed for me,” Dale Lewis said, with both a sigh and a smile, in his office at the Long Island arts day camp, which is unusual in both its name and its offerings.

The sigh, no doubt, referred to his Usdan-less boyhood. The smile may well have been prompted by his role for more than three decades as the executive director of Usdan (pronounced YOOZ-dan, and named for one of the camp’s founders).

New Usdan parents and students are invited to visit the campus, walk the grounds, and navigate summer class schedules.

Students: You will have received a schedule by that point (except Discovery students who will receive a name tag), so bring it with you and be sure to visit the studios where you have classes! There is a map on the back of your schedule to plan out your daily routine and meet the teachers you’ll be with all summer long.
