Julianna DeAngelis is loving her first year as a Discovery Counselor at Usdan! During the year, Julianna works as a middle school English teacher. She graduated from Vassar College with a BA in Drama and Media Studies and is currently a graduate student at Queens College.

Rose Recce is a junior music education major at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam where she studies vocal, choral, and special education music. Rose is super excited to be performing with the Discovery team today! 

Sam Bacher is in her first summer at Usdan. She is currently an orchestra teacher and studied cello at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.

Tatiana Birenbaum  (she/her) - Taty is a half Brazilian half Argentinian performer that moved to NYC in 2013 to attend the American Musical and Dramatics Academy. Some theatre credits include Legally Blonde, Brigadoon and Into The Woods. She also produces and directs a monthly Cabaret Series called Let’s Broadway. When not performing or teaching, Taty is training aerial hoop and silks. She’s very excited to be working at USDAN this summer and having the ability to create some magic with the Discovery campers (and counselors).

Cynthia Gonzalez is so excited to be spending her first summer at Usdan! She received a bachelor's in theater from Mount Holyoke College and hopes to spread the joy of the performing arts to all!

Bari Secondino is so proud and excited to be spending her summer at Usdan for the first time! She is in her junior year at Temple University where she studies Theater Education and is a member of the Acting Concentration. She is so thankful to Usdan for giving her this opportunity to spread her love of the arts to the younger generation of future artists!

Tyler Schiavone is in his first summer at Usdan. He is in his junior year at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam for music education and viola performance.

Justin Shah is off-the-walls excited to be back in Discovery this Summer! This is Justin’s fourth year here and he is grateful for the life-long relationships he’s made. He received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Hofstra University and is currently pursuing his master’s degree at the Aaron Copland School of Music. Justin hopes you all enjoy the show and that his Discovery kids are being wonderful audience members as always!

Sofia Notar-Francesco is in her eleventh summer at Usdan. She studied music education at Syracuse University and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in music education at Florida State University. She plays the viola, the piano, and sings and is so thankful for all that Usdan has done to further her passion for the arts.

Michael Fernandez is thrilled to be a member of the discovery team this year. He received his bachelor’s degree in music education at Hofstra University and completed his master’s degree in music education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. Currently, he is an elementary school chorus and general music teacher in the East Islip School District. He is grateful to Usdan for giving him the opportunity to share his love for music and the arts with such wonderful kids.

Fernanda Madrigal has been coming to Usdan since she was seven years old and is so excited to be a part of this performance and to be discovery counselor!

Anna Strauch is in her second summer at Usdan. She recently graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a degree in Elementary Education and is currently teaching K-5th on Long Island. Anna is so thankful to have made such strong connections at Usdan, and she is honored to have an opportunity to perform with the talented people who make up Discovery.

The group is accompanied by Kelly Horsted. “Gifted and versatile,” pianist Kelly Horsted, is a native of Sioux City, Iowa, and enjoys an active career in NYC as an accompanist, music director and vocal coach specializing in new opera, art song, and role preparation.
