Joel is a Professional Chess Master from Oceanside, New York. A FIDE Master and USCF National Master, Joel has been teaching Chess full-time since 1994, joining the faculty of Usdan in 2003, where he co-chairs the Chess Department. Joel also has a wealth of experience as a tournament director and organizer, including State, National and International competitions for all levels of players from young children to International Grandmasters. Joel has a BA in Mathematics from The Johns Hopkins University (1987).
Fun Fact: In addition to Long Island, Joel has played/taught Chess on the islands of Bermuda, Curacao and Hawaii.
