The phrase “in the groove” means to be performing excellently. A hit band or a winning team is said to be “in the groove.” What does performing excellently mean for a theater performer? It means performing in a way that seems completely natural and effortless. When you know how to stand, where to stand, where and how to look, what to say and when to say it, you and your fellow performers all benefit. Through exercises and scene work, actors in this Minor learn when and how to use their physical energies and how to achieve powerful performances. Young actors grow to realize that all they really need, they already possess. Classes take place in open-air studios with at least one side exposed to Usdan’s beautiful wooded campus. Classes are grouped according to division and grade. All levels of theatrical experience are welcome.
